adidas Fathom

adidas Fathom
Overview:
The adidas Fathom basketball shoe was made with speed and control in mind. Made for primarily indoor use, adidas Fathom has a non-marking rubber outsole that provides amazing traction. Utilizing adidas’ top technology, this shoe is performance grade at an economical price.
Style/Design:
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I’ll leave that decision up to you. Personally I’ve never been a fan of the shinny synthetic that straps the adidas Fathom together. However, after reading other reviews, I’m convinced that I have no sense of style. With my personal preferences aside, the overall design of the shoe is pretty solid. The fathom is well constructed and can take a beating on the court. This set of adidas kicks interegrates all of the most recent adidas technologies: 3® support, adiPRENE®+ forefoot propulsion and a TORSION® SYSTEM in the midfoot that adds control when you need it (It’s like a stability control system in your shoes).
Fit:
It’s light, breathes very well, and conforms to your foot. These days pretty much anytime I’m testing a pair of new basketball shoes I expect nothing less than pure excellence. All shoe makers are providing light, comfortable high performance shoes and the adidas Fathom is no exception. So it seems that its better to look for a shoes best quality than its worst and the Fathom breathes very well. My earlier complaints about the colorful synthetic straps that surround this shoe actually provide structural integrity that allows for a sponge like cushion that gives the Fathom excellent breathability.
Price:
Originally starting around $70 we’ve found that the shoe has recently been reduced to around $50. adidas has always been pretty good with pricing and the adidas Fathom is no exception. The technology in this shoe could have allowed the Fathom to start for around $85 and now you can grab it for $50. At the time this review was written, Eastbay has the best deal and selection. They have blue, black, white, red and indigo with a full range of sizes starting at 7 all the way up to 16. Zappos is offering the shoe but at full price and shipping at EB is only about 7 bucks. Plus if you look around you may be able to find some coupon codes. Good hunting!
